Weekend Fun

So many fun things to do last weekend!
It all started with our monthly Bunco night. Think 12 women, food, spirits and some games of dice. It was a super-fun evening at Beth's house, but (thank goodness) no pictures to share...although those of you on Facebook might have caught glimpse of an incriminating photo that I quickly "untagged" myself from....
The next morning, I was getting up early to meet Aimee for a shopping trip to North Conway. Of course, knowing I had to get up early, our dog made lots of loud licky-sounds all through the night that kept waking me. This, followed by a happy toddler playing in his crib- wide awake- at 5:15AM! To say the least, by the time I met Aimee in St. Johnsbury, I was quite tired.
But duty calls! Aimee needed warm-weather clothes and I was going to help her find some. Well, okay, I helped ME find some...and I (unlike Aimee) didn't really NEED any...but we were in true "shop-til-you-drop" mode. A lot of hours and money later, I dropped her back off to her car and I got home around 7:30PM.
Sunday, I was up at 5:30AM for my 6:30 morning run with Liz. Then I thought I'd give Ed a break from his weekend of "Eli-Duty". Elijah and I ran a couple of errands and then joined Heather's family for some apple picking at Chapin's Orchard. Here are the pictures from a beautiful autumnal day:

Apple picking's serious business!
Elijah picked the whole bag all by himself (although I went through to remove apples with bruises and/or bites taken out of them):The Garrow boys (Jackson, 8 and Ryan, 6), sporting their new long hair-do's:My best friend Heather:
Ava, Jackson, Ryan and Brady. We could NOT get Elijah to join this picture.
Enjoying apple #1 (not counting multiple one-biters during the picking process).
The obligatory tractor ride:
Back at home, some "peek-a-boo" fun in and among the pole beans:
Something abut this last picture reminds me of Wayne when he was little. What do you think?
A much more relaxing weekend ahead...Ed will leave for camp on Friday...the weather looks great, so Elijah and I will enjoy the Underhill Harvest Market.

This Month's Posting, haha!

I might not be joking. I've been so busy lately that I've barely taken a photograph, much less considered sitting down to create a blog posting.

Things have been crazy since "they" said I had to go back to work...We're up at 5:30, out the door at 7:00, daycare, work, daycare, dinner, bath, bed. Repeat. Whew! Throw in a little (okay, a lot!) of half-marathon training and...well, you get the picture!

Elijah is thriving at his new "school." He absolutely, positively LOVES it, and we couldn't be more happy with the way things are working out! "Miss Tammy" is the most upbeat, spunky and FUN lady to spend the day with. And she makes fabulous meals for them. I'm actually a little jealous when we drop Elijah off!

Labor Day weekend, Elijah and I went to Maine for one last hurrah before summer officially ends. We had sunny days and cool nights, and got in some great visiting time with Nana, Auntie Nancy and Uncle George. Even got one more lobster dinner out of the deal!

This past weekend, my running partner Liz and I ran the Vermont Remembers 10k on Saturday- a race to benefit the National Guard's Memorial for fallen soldiers. It was a great morning to run, and a neat event to participate in! After that, Ed, Eli and I headed up to see Tyler, who was participating in a Live Shoot with the Civil War Hemlocks in Woodbury. We got to see them shoot a cannon 3 times, which was pretty exciting! No pictures, sorry. It's hard to take photos when you're blocking your ears! We stopped for yummy creemees at the House of Pizza in Hardwick. I maintain that they have the best creemees in the world!

Sunday morning I met Liz at 6:30 for a 12-mile run. We enjoy our Sunday 'long" runs together and are pleased with our progress, I could never do this without her! Ed has been wholly supportive, taking care of Elijah every weekend so I can be out of the house for hours at a time. But none of us can wait for this half-marathon to be done with so we can all actually sleep in on a weekend morning. October 4th can't come soon enough!

We've had beautiful, sunny days ever since school started back up (figures, right?). The leaves are starting to change and it just FEELS like fall. Makes ya want to go apple picking!
