Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend began with a trip down to Wilmington, VT to visit my Dad. He owns a home on Mount Snow that he rents out to skiers in the wintertime. Normally, he inhabits it himself every Friday through Monday from April to October, just to get away from the city. This year because of the cancer treatments, Memorial Day weekend was his first trip up north. We felt blessed to share a day with him there.

Here's Grampy with his littlest grandchild:

My Dad warned me on the phone that he had lost a lot of weight since we last saw him. We were braced for the worst, but in fact he looked pretty darned good!

Later in the weekend, Ed tilled the new garden and I was involved in a larger-than-life hosta relocation project. Elijah was happy to hang out with the "babysitter"...a.k.a. the tractor. He'd spend all day sitting on it and trying to work all the buttons and levers. The tractor, of course, is off and the key is removed-- so it's *kind of* safe.

Okay, not totally safe. If you look closely, you can see the tears on Elijah's cheeks that haven't dried yet. This picture was taken shortly after he slipped off the tractor seat and split his lip. Oops.

Ah, well. He recovers quickly:
Only 8 teaching days to go until Final Exams!

The pictures of Eli on the tractor remind SO much of Kyle! He STILL loves sitting on tractors..actually, he loves sitting in/on ANY vehicle!! Despite their age difference they are definately two pea's in a pod, aren't they?!
I'm glad you, Ed & Eli got to spend some quality time with Dad. Dad does look amazing, doesn't he? He was so happy to see you guys in Vermont!! Dad said the rough ride there & back was definately worth it, just to spend time with Eli :)
I'm hoping to get to Maine this weekend to see you (and everyone else) but my pregnancy may not allow me to..I see my Dr tomorrow to get a yay or nay on the trip! If not hopefully I'll see you in June, and maybe even again in August if you can swing a visit after your neice makes her arrival!

We enjoyed the pictures very much. Glad you got some time to spend with your Dad. He looks great!

Elijah looks so happy perched on that tractor! He's a farmer-in-training, all right.

Yes, the thrill of sitting on a tractor is all worth a split lip or two. Glad to see he got right back in the saddle.

Your Dad looks quite robust. Glad you got to spend some time with him this weekend.

Sandy, your dad looks great, especially after the long battle he has been through. He doesn't look like he's lost that much weight & he still has a great tan!!!
Eli on the tractor is a picture for the scrap book. He is so darn cute. I can't wait to give him a huge hug this weekend.

Glad that your dad was able to make the trip to Wilmington. It is a sign that he is better.

Elijah seems so much a little boy now and no longer a toddler. He is so cute!
