"Thanksgiving" in Maine...in May!

My mom has always had this crazy idea that it would be fun to have a "Thanksgiving" in Maine. So this, our 49th year of owning the cottage, was year #1 of what we hope will be a long-standing tradition! In fact, Ed and I realized that this was the very first "Thanksgiving" dinner we have ever had together, haha!
Although May nights in our heatless little cottage are not much different than November, the days can be pretty nice. Saturday was no exception!
First, we spent some time enjoying the beautiful weather.
It was warm enough to sneak up on Auntie Rita with a water pistol!
Auntie Nancy and my sister Leslee enjoying the warm sunshine:
My beautiful little neice Sarah:
My awesome nephew Brandon, going for "The Big One"
The Lady of the Day, Mumsie:

Uncle George, dressed for the occasion:
My cousin Jen and her BF Jonny:
My brother-in-law Mike and Sarah:

G and B - Gone Fishin'
Elijah wants to go, too!

Happy to be out of the car!

Aunt Rita's friend Rick:
Daddy and Elijah, enjoying a moment:
The gang down at the beach:
Going for a shoulder-ride:
Ed and I got a wonderful respite when we realized that Elijah was crazy about his cousin Brandon (and vice-versa):

Relaxation over! Mike starts the turkey fryer:

Aunt Denise arrrives to help prepare the meal:

Turkey #1, going in!
Nancy warms the stuffing:

Lucy supervises:
Waiting for "dinner to be served"
Did I mention there's no stove in the cottage? The whole meal was prepared using the gas grill, campstoves and (of course) the turkey fryer!

It was a lovely weekend, and I think my Mom was thrilled with how everything turned out! Can't wait for next year!!!

Sandy, your nephew, Brandon, looks so much like you he could pass for your own son.

I am very impressed that the entire Thanksgiving meal was prepared on the grill and in the fryer. It looks great!

Now you've made me homesick for Maine.

I know Julie- deep fried turkey sounds so gross, but actually it was delicious!!! It was crispy-skinned and moist inside...And it only took about 30 minutes to cook!

The food looks like it was delicious!! I wish we could've been there..but there's no use in whining over it now! Eventually this pregnancy WILL be over :)
Kyle loved seeing all of his cousins & can't wait to see everyone soon!

The pics came out fantastic. Can you "print" them for the Maine photo album? I had a great time as I'm sure everyone else did. I can't wait to plan it again next year. Hopefully Paula & her gang & Todd & his gang can make it next year. Also Julie is welcome next year as well if she wants to put up with a bunch of nutcakes. LOL
