To tame the savage beast (a.k.a. Elijah), we decided there was nothing more calming than a nice snuggle on the couch with some good friends and a box of Buggy Grahams.... I got sick just in time for my half-marathon. Thankfully, my head cold was gone by the morning of the race- although the cold had settled in my chest, making for some difficult breathing while running (thankfully, I still had a few "puffs" left on my nebulizer from last year's post-flu bronchitis). Liz and I hoped to break 2 hours, a highly attainable goal at any other time. But in the end, we crossed the finish line in 2:03:54...missing our target time by nearly 4 minutes.
On a more positive note, it was a great day to run, and the race was as delightful and organized as always! Glad to have participated again after a 4-year hiatus.
This is the pre-race photo. NO ONE wants to see what we looked like after 2+ hours of running! When I returned (read: dragged myself) to my car, someone had stuck fliers on everyone's windshield advertising another half-marathon coming up at the end of the month in St. Johnsbury. Bad timing...what are these people, crazy?!?

I am sorry to hear that you have all been under the weather.
It must have been so disappointing to still have the after effects of your cold during your half marathon, Sandy. I know you worked really hard with your training.
Hope all three of you are 100 % soon!
Bravo! Bravo!
OH GOD I HATE COLD AND FLU SEASON!PLEASE NO NO NO, NOT AGAIN THIS YEAR! I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT! I CAN'T STAND IT...
Please excuse that rant.
Great job on the 1/2 marathon. I don't care what your time was, I'm just impressed you did it.
Darlene: You're so funny! But at least my sickness will be gone by Friday...that's Bunco night again, hehe!
Poor Elijah looks pretty sick in those pictures! But at least he got to snuggle up on the couch with a yummy snack & drink. That always makes Kyle feel better too :)
Congrats on finishing that marathon! I know you were disappointed with the end results but you should be proud of yourself for even finishing, given the fact that you weren't feeling well yourself!! Sending healthy germ-free wishes your way :)
ps. I need some idea's on what to get Eli for his birthday..I was thinking maybe some more puzzles? Books? Or maybe a toddler basketball hoop - have you seen those? Kyle still has his - it can be indoor or outdoor - doesn't take up much room - & it "grows" with your child so it's age appropriate until they are like 8!!
