Vacation Woes!

We've had our ups and downs this vacation with sickness. Coming into the vacation, Elijah had already been struggling with a cold/cough/ear infection for 10 days, and I had begun to feel the effects right towards the end of the work week.
It just never went away!
Finally, by Tuesday, Elijah was starting to show improvement and by Thursday evening I was. Then, BOOM! Ed got sick with different symptoms (no cough, but terrific body aches and a fever) and, alas, Elijah put himself down for a suspicious nap at 11:30 this morning and awoke a couple hours later sporting a fancy 102-degrees!
So now I'm the only healthy one, but who knows what tomorrow might bring? In my depression/desperation I have eaten almost all the Easter candy, and now I have to go out tomorrow to buy more.

Here's the cuter of the 2 sickies:

I feel so sorry for Elijah because tomorrow is the annual Success By Six "Big Truck Day," which he truly has looked forward to for months, as well as his little buddy Quinn's birthday party. We went shopping for Quinn's birthday present at Toys 'R' Us on Wednesday and Elijah's been SOOOO excited since then. I need to learn Mom Lesson #1- never inform your child of any plans until you are ready to literally walk out the door!

We were supposed to have Martha and Chris over for dinner tomorrow night, but I called and left a message about my "Y-chromosome" family members falling ill.
Sunday (Easter) we offered to host our good friends Beth & Jim with their daughter Dianna. Not sure yet how (if) that might play out.

So it's been a really awesome vacation. Really. Awesome.

To end on a high note, here's a cute video of Elijah when he was feeling well. He is "shaking his bootie" to the KC and the Sunshine Band's 1970's hit. I must be doing a thousand things wrong with my camera, and thus cannot figure out why the videos come out so poorly on this blog. They look fine on the camera screen! But you'll get the idea!

Yes, at the end of the video, it DOES sound like he says, "I'm going to poop on you." Honestly, I have no idea if that's really what he said or, if so, where in the world that came from. We'll just pretend we didn't hear that part and try only to remember previous cute booty-shaking.

KIDS- they say the darndest things!

Sorry to hear that Ed and Elijah are sick. Let's hope the sickness doesn't last too long!

Loved Elijah singing "Shake my booty". He's such a neat kiddo!

Sometimes our kids have a fever all of the sudden and the next day, nothing. Sometimes they have a fever, I brace for the worse, mentally reschedule the next 72 hours of my life, and they aren't sick at all. Kids are weird stuff, man, what can I say.
