The Organized Teacher

Having been out earlier this week with Elijah, I worked really hard to get (mostly) caught up with grading last night and really scrambled this morning to be prepared for the day. When the bell rang at 9:10, I was feeling pretty good about how I'd pulled it all off- I was going to be The Most Organized Teacher today!

But as fate would have it (April Fools', anyone?), our school was evacuated due to a bomb threat. All 1,000 students and 100 staff were evacuated down to the lower athletic fields, where we stood around, wondering what was going on....for TWO hours!!!!!

As always, our students were excellent during this emergency- they hung out where they were supposed to, and enjoyed the (thankfully) sunny day.

We were allowed back into the building at noon and now are proceeding with an abbreviated day. So much for The Organized Teacher! Never a dull moment around here.

I taught at a Jr. High in Melbourne, FL for a year in 03-04. We had bomb threats almost every day during the second semester... it was such a nightmare! I lost so much teaching time just hanging out in a field behind the school, trying to escape the heat. I'm at least glad that we had nice weather today for your evacuation!

2 HOURS?!?! Do you think it the bobm threat really was caused by callous April Fool's prank?
