It was the opening weekend of bird hunting season, so Elijah and I decided to head to Maine one last time, while Ed went to Wheelock. Someday my little buddy will be going to Wheelock WITH Ed, and I'll lose my traveling partner!
The weather turned out to be much more appealing than predicted, and in fact my only complaint was the mosquitoes. They actually made it difficult to hang outside for very long without a good, thick covering of DEET.
Saturday morning, waiting for Nana to arrive...
Nana even lets Elijah win!
Happy Autumn, everyone!
Drawing pictures before heading off to the zoo for the afternoon.
We had a wonderful weekend- I even
got another lobster fix (okay, TWO lobsters).
This week, our friend and colleague Mickey passed along a childrens' workbench that he made for his own children, who are now 19 and 16. It even has a real working vice. Pretty much, if it's not nailed down, it's been in the vice. This afternoon, Elijah spent some time pulverizing rotten potatoes.
Happy Autumn, everyone!

Oh my gosh! Those pictures of Elijah with his Grandma, Elijah pounding rotten potatoes on the work bench, and Eliza in the soap bubbles were precious!
Give him a hug for me!

Love the rotten potatoes smashing! Sounds like we have a bunch of rotten ones at our house Elijah can pulverize!
If you ever need a traveling partner to Maine, call me! What a wonderful place to escape to, with Nana there to play games with Elijah! Love that a simple bench can be so much fun! Looks like the meat mallet works as a hammer, too! Elijah looks so tall and grown in the the photos!
Don't ask me why, but I thought there were no new posts since "# Musketeers"...I thought you were just too busy, Sandy, to post...so I was delighted to today link from Darlene's home blog page and find all these other blogs! It seems like Elijah looks so much older, and so glad you have been having some great times!!!
And, Elijah's passion for beating things to a pulp sort of reminds me of Ed and Ced when they were boys. They would be sitting at the kitchen table talking and suddenly realize they had been carving a hole in the oilcloth with a knife, and hadn't even realized they were doing it!
Love, Joanie
